Kapoor and Sons 2016 is an Indian Hindi-language romantic comedy-drama film directed by Shakun Batra and produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. The film stars an ensemble cast including Rishi Kapoor, Ratna Pathak, Rajat Kapoor, Sidharth Malhotra, Fawad Khan, and Alia Bhatt. The film was released worldwide on 18 March 2016.

Estranged brothers Rahul and Arjun Kapoor are forced to return to their childhood home in Coonor when their 90-year-old grandfather gets a heart attack. While living under one roof, family secrets unravel and misunderstandings are on the verge of turning into tragedy. Rahul Fawad Khan is a writer, who personifies the image of successful young man who appears to be the most mature person in the family. On the other hand, Arjun Siddharth Malhotra struggles to make it big like his brother and does an odd job of a bartender to earn his livelihood and is still to come of age. There they come to know about their Grandfather’s last wish – to have a family photograph with the title- ‘Kapoor and Sons since 1921. Rahul is being loved more by his parents for being more mature and successful. This doesn’t go well with Arjun. Arjun also feels that Rahul had stolen his story for writing his novel which eventually became a big hit. While the brothers struggle to get along, the parents are troubled with their own marriage. Ratna Pathak, thinks Rajat Kappor is having affair with one of his ex employee while Rajat is unhappy about the fact that his wife is not happy with limited means which they have. After 4 months, they receive a video from their grandfather, in which he tells them to come back and fulfill his last wish. The misunderstanding between Arjun and Tia is clarified. They click their family photo.
